WHO ARE WE?

 

The Mount Vernon High School Bands Boosters (MVHSBB)is a Virginia non-profit corporation recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to:

• encourage band student interest, leadership, and sense of responsibility

• provide financial assistance for the Bands Program

• support the Bands Program, including its curriculum and activities

• and deal in other things necessary and desirable consistent with these purposes.

Booster membership is open to all persons with an interest in its purposes.  There are three membership classes:  Active, Associate, and Honorary. 

• Active Members shall be the parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in the Bands Program, as well as the Bands Director(s) and Color Guard Director(s).  Active Members shall be the Corporation's only voting members.  Only Active Members that are parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in the Bands Program are eligible for election as Officers of the Corporation. 

• Associate Members shall be Bands Program graduates and former Active Members.  Associate Members may participate in, meetings, discussions, and committee activities, but shall not be voting members or Officers of the Corporation. 

• Honorary Members shall be persons who have made outstanding contributions to the Bands Program.  Such persons may be elected to Honorary Membership by the Active Members of the Corporation after recommendation by the Executive Board.  Honorary Members shall not be voting members or Officers of the Corporation.
